DESIGNATED TEXAS PADDLING TRAIL

The Midlake Run Paddling Trail launches at the Hwy 3121 Bridge and follows the bank towards the main lake, then loops across near the mouth of Palo Gaucho Bayou to the opposite bank for the return trip. You'll experience both open waters and quiet creeks on this approximately 11 mile trail. The trail is about a 6 hour adventure depending on winds and pace. This is an advanced skill level trail that at times could have rougher waters and crosses a boat lane, and we recommend only experienced paddlers, or those accompanied by experienced paddlers, take this trip. Children must be 13 years or older and experienced paddlers for this advanced skill level trail.

This is a self-guided trip. We meet you and drop your kayaks off at Sandals and Spurs Resort, 3150 Palo Gaucho Xing, Hemphill, Texas 75948. There is a convenience store on site with snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and other supplies.

Standard Single Kayaks, Total Weight Limit 225lbs

- $45 Half Day (up to 4 hours)

- $60 Full Day (over 4 hours)

Premium Single Kayaks, Total Weight Limit 275lbs to 350lbs. We will place you in the kayak model that's appropriate for your trip.

- $55 Half Day (up to 4 Hours) 

- $70 Full Day (over 4 hours)

Tandem Kayaks are not available at this trail

Rates include Resort Launch Fees of $5 per kayak

All Rental Fees Are Subject To Sales Tax

Total Weight Limits include you, your gear, water, etc. If you weigh over 220lbs, you'll need to upgrade to a Premium Kayak.

Rates Include: Each kayak comes with a USCG approved life vest that we will fit, paddle with lanyard, safety whistle and waterproof phone case. Fishing set ups are provided on request at no cost and include a kayak with rod holders and rod lanyards.

Rates below are for Self Guided Kayaking. We meet you and drop your kayaks off at the boat ramp and pick them up there when you're done.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE AND ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Your reservation is NOT complete until you receive confirmation from us via text, Message or email with your date and time!!! We DO NOT HOLD KAYAKS without a completed confirmation! ABSOLUTELY NO SAME DAY OR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY SERVICES!

Each person who will be using a kayak will need to complete our Liability Waiver in advance via the link here on the website. A Rental Contract is also required by individuals or the person responsible for the group or party and can be completed in advance to save time at the ramp.

Parents must complete our Liability Waiver for minors under 18 years old. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Due to open water and the presence of boat wakes we do not allow children to double up with parents on this trail.

Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled launch time to receive fitting and equipment instruction.

What if the weather is bad? For safety, we do not deliver kayaks during prolonged rain events, flooding, thunderstorms, high winds, or on weather alert days. If dangerous weather occurs and we need to cancel your trip we will notify you as soon as the Weather Service has a firm prediction, usually 24 to 48 hours in advance. We'll work with you to reschedule your trip. While kayaks are in your possession, please use your discretion and be weather aware. If a pop-up storm should occur pull to the nearest bank, pull the kayak up and seek any available shelter. Give us a call or text to let us know you'll be delayed.

Guided Tours Available! We also offer approximately 4 hour Guided Tours for up to 4 participants. We have several tours already available on our Events page however we can sometimes work in additional tours depending on seasonal demand. Please email paddle@toledobendkayakrental.com to book your spot and receive additional instructions. Registration deadline is at least 2 days prior to tour and subject to availability. Limited to 4 participants with a minimum of 2 to schedule the trip. The trip cost is $65 per person and payable at the time of booking. You will receive a full refund if the trip is cancelled due to bad weather or if we receive less than the minimum number of participants. We must be notified of cancellation at least 24 hours prior to the start of the trip to issue a refund.
